The Welsh Eclectics Group is a collective of visionary creators based in Wales. We reject the safety of repetition to explore the intersection of heritage and innovation. Our work is a vibrant dialogue between historic roots and experimental contemporary techniques.

Manifesto

The Welsh Eclectics Group believe that creative art is based in the realm of ideas rather than repetition. That each work should represent a fresh idea executed in whatever medium best expresses that idea.

We believe that rather than being divided into eclipsed historic periods that art is a cumulative endeavour, extending the doctrine of Sir Joshua Reynolds, that all previous schools and approaches are available to the contemporary artist and may be freely combined.

We feel that the group’s exhibitions should be exciting and stimulating with a new perspective displayed in each piece.

The Welsh Eclectics Group believe that constant experimentation and engagement with the new will produce the richest tapestry of artworks.

The excitement of constant exploration should be the light that guides the creative process.

The Welsh Eclectics Group is envisioned as relatively small and intends to hold group exhibitions where members multiple artworks have room to breathe.

To that end membership is by invitation only to those that have demonstrated an eclectic practice over time.
